Wccusd Calendar 2020 21 – This is Mr. Burnham's weekend robocall. Hello Korematsu Parents and guardians and genuine students. Here, Principal Matthew Burnham welcomes you to the new school year. Our staff has been working hard to prepare for a great year. Let's begin the school year with a renewed determination to create a positive and challenging learning environment for our students. Monday the 19th is the first day of school. Please ensure students arrive early for their first lesson. Classes begin at 8:10 a.m. with the first bell at 8:05 a.m. Many programs have evolved to accommodate learning balance. An alphabetical list of students is posted at the school. Next to each name is the first teacher and room number. Students should find their name, write the teacher and room, and then go to the classroom. Students will receive an updated schedule. Other documents are also available. Unless there is an obvious error in the schedule (eg missing time), we will not make any changes to the team until Friday. Our perception has increased and our ability to change our schedule has decreased. This year we expect to have lockers available for students by the end of the first week of school. But remember, we don't have enough lockers for all our students. We will also ask other students to share with a trusted friend. If dropping off a student, please drop off at Lawrence Street or Norwell Street at the beginning of campus. campus based. Walk clockwise around the school. Drop students off and pick them up at Norwell and Lawrence's destinations. Drop off students on the side of the road to improve safety and traffic flow. Please do not drop off students in front of the school on Donal Avenue. AC Transit and other buses use Donal Avenue in the mornings and afternoons, so it must be open for buses to stop.

The school has no parking facilities other than one or two short-term parking spaces on Donal Avenue. The school's Donal Avenue must be open to AC transit and other bus use. Please park legally on Lawrence, Gladys or Norwell streets.

AC Transit operates special routes to and from Richmond. These lines operate on school days, Monday to Friday, and timetables are in line with local school hours and only run when schools are in school. Today, six Bay Area counties announced that schools will be closed through May 1 to reduce the spread and transmission of COVID-19. These issues were anticipated and we understand the possibility of extended closures and require a plan to address the long-term needs of the students and families we serve. We are currently planning to introduce a permanent distance learning program on April 13, which will be mandatory for all students in the district.
Richmond High School / Welcome
While issues are still being worked out, we know it will be led by the district's teachers and staff and will take into account the needs of students in the education system. While we are excited about the expansion of distance learning, we encourage students to continue to engage with the opportunities and resources already provided.

Even during the extended closure, we will be providing student catering at 17 locations. Meals for children under 18 are available at 17 locations Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

Social emails, texts and reminders start coming. Between March 12 and March 20, you will receive a "response invitation" in the mail. With students staying home and the impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on our community and the world, we know many people have many unanswered questions. I want you to know that regional officials are working hard to find clear answers and we will have them soon.
Graduation, AP tests, credits, reading, grades are just a few of the issues we've been dealing with over the past two weeks. We are also working to expand our distance learning program to provide an enriching, engaging and challenging program for all students. It takes time because it's important that we do it right. Districts across the country are doing similar things, so we're not alone.
At WCCUSD, we work with our teachers and staff to create a system for all students, including those who need additional support when transitioning to distance learning. We also want to follow the lead of the California Department of Education and most other counties
