Next Sunday, Swingin' Medallions launches at 7:30pm ET. Fireworks will start as soon as it gets dark.

Locals and tourists were delighted to see the return of Beach Bash, which hosted a fireworks display on the island two years ago.

Joe Marinelli, president of Visit Savannah & Tybee, said: "It really marks the end of summer, at least for things like family fun and travel, so if Mother Nature cooperates, it should be a busy weekend for sure." .

Organizers are keeping a close eye on the weather and if the fireworks are not held on Sunday they will cancel rather than postpone them.

If you're planning to go out, come early for the fireworks, especially on Sundays. City officials said the parking lot typically fills up by 9:30 a.m. the day of the event. The seaside town of Tybee Island is a popular getaway for people from the Southeast. In addition to the beach, Tybee offers a year-round calendar of events, including the annual Pirates Festival and large weekend celebrations such as holiday beach parties, fundraisers, arts and crafts events and more.

Tybee is located 18 miles outside of Savannah and is easily accessible by car or taxi from the city. However, traffic can be heavy during the season's busiest weekends and major holidays. Get there early to avoid the worst traffic and secure the best parking spots.
