Wharton Academic Calendar 2023 24
Wharton Academic Calendar 2023 24 – In spring 2021, a Department of Student Organizations sponsored survey of the student body and conducted focus group discussions to identify the six values most important to Wharton students. These values are concrete, but open to personal expression and are intended to illustrate where the students are now and where they want to be as a community. Students should take time to see how these values relate to their personal lives.
Below, the community values are listed in alphabetical order, along with comments from the first survey. These values will be updated or revised every three years from 2024 onwards. For questions, please contact whartonvalues@wharton.upenn.edu.

We give our all in all endeavors as we overcome challenges to achieve our academic and other goals. We stay true to our purpose and follow through with passion. We don't just confront our intentions, we confront them, challenge the status quo and strive for more.

We create a collaborative and mentoring community. We are not afraid to ask our peers for help, nor are we afraid to lend a helping hand ourselves. In classes and clubs, we exchange ideas with each other, and stimulate new and more creative ideas that bring us closer to our common goals.

We treat other students, faculty and staff from different backgrounds and perspectives with respect, care and fairness. In every interaction, we strive to include our peers in classes, clubs, and social life, regardless of race, class, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, ability, religion, or political affiliation.
We embrace exploration at all levels of education, career and interaction. We are constantly seeking new information from our colleagues and professors to guide our future decisions and gain new experiences.

True inclusion finds positive ways to accommodate these students." – Class of 2021

"For me, diversity and inclusion means making historically unique regions more representative of the world we live in. I think a key indicator of DEI's success is that students from different backgrounds can collaborate on class projects or clubs, but they are not only inclusive. They respect each other's differences." – Class of 2023

This limit does not apply when assigning a grade normally required by a B+ average (3.33) in an MBA program.

Second, professors do not assign LT indicators in MBA courses. However, academic performance standards will be used. In other words, you may not get an LT, but getting an F could jeopardize your academic standing.

These decisions are a continuation of the strategies we developed last semester in response to the transition to distance learning. We believe it is important to provide equal support to students and teachers as they adapt to synchronous and hybrid delivery models.

That being said, we are returning to our standard pass/fail policy for the fall semester. Each student can take a maximum of one optional unit on a pass/fail basis, excluding courses taken only on a pass/fail basis. Normal deadlines also apply. While we understand that this may reduce student flexibility, we believe that this is in the best interest of the MBA community.
The academic calendar has not changed, and classes and exams will take place after Thanksgiving. The 2021 MBA Academic Calendar can be found here.

I am a returning MBA student (2nd year). Can I still take leave this session?
Yes, if you decide to take a leave of absence (LOA), please email mbaprogram@ by Tuesday, September 8, stating the reason for the absence and your estimated time off. All LOA requests are reviewed by the MBA program office. More information on how to review, approve and manage LOA requests can be found here.
MBA program staff work closely with Student Disability Services (SDS). We encourage the use of the MyWLRC portal, a new set of online tools for communicating with disability services. The new tool allows students to register in SDS, upload disability documentation, renew accommodations each semester, schedule accommodation testing, and upload text for conversion to alternative formats.
