College Football: Covid 19 Positives, Other Factors Raise Questions

The University's School of Nursing is an integral part of the University, a state-funded institution of higher education. nursing is a nationally recognized program focused on equipping students to make a significant difference in the healthcare industry. The school is dedicated to teaching, research, and service to the South Carolina community, the nation, and the world. As we prepare nurses for professional practice, nursing scholarship and leadership in health care, we are shaping the future of nursing and health care and improving the health and quality of life in South Carolina, the nation, and beyond.

In partnership with Prisma Health-Upstate, the university is expanding the nursing program at the University Nursing Building in Greenville – an effort to double enrollment in the traditional nursing program. This expansion will help meet the growing need for nurses and encourage innovation in health care and research efforts in the state of South Carolina. The partnership expanded clinical placements for Prisma Health-Upstate students. Clemson, S. (VIFF) – Clemson University will begin the fall semester online and suspend in-person classes until September 21.

The semester is scheduled to begin on August 19 with online classes. No other changes will be made to the academic calendar at this time.

We've made great strides toward that goal, and I'm very proud of the work our department and staff have done. Let me be clear: We remain committed to returning to personal training and activities in the fall.

Unfortunately, the progress of COVID-19, especially in South Carolina and the Upstate, is creating great uncertainty regarding the return of students to our campus and the resumption of in-person classes in August.

As a result, I am announcing today that Clemson University will begin the fall semester online and suspend in-person classes until September 21st. The semester is scheduled to begin on August 19 with online classes. No other changes will be made to the academic calendar at this time.

On-campus admissions is currently scheduled to begin on September 13, and all current restrictions on campus gatherings and events will remain in effect until further notice.

I know this is disappointing news for many of our students, especially our first-year students, who are eagerly awaiting the start of their Clemson experience on their campus. However, we believe this change is in the best interest of the Clemson family at this time.

After a thorough review by our internal and external health experts and lengthy discussions within the leadership team, we do not see the situation improving enough in the next few weeks to allow students and staff to reopen in August as planned. .

We believe that by delaying the resumption of campus activities for another four weeks and strictly following the recommended health precautions, the illness will subside to the point where we can safely return to something close to a normal learning environment. We will use that time to implement the previously announced plan to test all of our students to provide better ways to predict infection rates in our community.
