Dc Public Schools Calendar 2023 24 – This year in the classroom, DCPS will continue to focus on creating fun and rigorous learning experiences that accelerate student success. Our primary schools continue to make great strides in literacy so all students are expected to progress academically throughout their education. For middle and high school students, we focus on ensuring that what they learn in the classroom is relevant to their career and college success, including expanded career and technical education (CTE) and math courses. Plus, we know new memories will be made in our classrooms, playgrounds, school labs, playgrounds and platforms!

Dickinson Public Schools
All students and campus staff must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test on the first day of school. Our SY22-23 #SafeReturn protocol follows the test return steps implemented last school year and this summer.
Schools will be distributing the COVID-19 test kits on Tuesday, August 23 and Friday, August 26 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and on Wednesday, August 24 and Thursday, August 25 at 12:00 pm. At 5:30 p.m.

District School Year
In order to attend school, families must submit their student's immunization records by the first day of class. Vaccinations are important to prevent disease and reduce the risks of exposure to certain diseases. The school has established a schedule of student attendance and dismissal. See the information provided by the school for more details on your student's arrival and departure each day.
Safe Passage is Mayor Bowser's investment in protecting students and families who attend school. The Safe Lane Program includes conflict resolution, mediation services, and building community relationships to ensure student safety and improve student attendance.
The Kids Ride Free (KRF) program allows students to ride for free while traveling on Metrobus, Metrorail and DC Circulator. Note that the free SmartTrip card for the 2021-2022 Kids Ride school year is valid through September 30, 2022. New cards for this school year will be distributed at your child's school, or you can contact your school to request one. Learn more about KRF from the DC Department of Transportation.
School Board Approves 2022 2023 School Calendar
DCPS is committed to supporting the health and achievement of our students by ensuring that all DCPS students receive nutritious meals. For school year 22-23, breakfast will be free for all DCPS students. Free or reduced-price lunch is offered to any student eligible for free or reduced-price lunch and to all students in the 89 DCPS schools designated under the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Community Eligibility Program (CEP).
If your student does not attend a CEP school, they may be eligible for free lunch in one of the following ways:
For students who do not qualify for free and reduced-price lunch, lunch will remain at $3.00. The hot lunch deal is the same whether students pay or eat for free or reduced price. Pre-K students eat in their classrooms and all students in grades K-12 eat in or outside the cafeteria.

Every day counts! Regular school attendance is important for academic success. Our goal is to ensure that every student attends school on time and on time. From kindergarten to high school, day-to-day activities at school have a huge impact on the academic success of our students. Even as children grow and become more independent, families play an important role in ensuring students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is important to success in school and in life.
DCPS recognizes that grades support continuous learning by providing appropriate feedback and addressing individualized instruction while documenting a student's school career growth and development. Grades may include tests and quizzes to demonstrate student participation in classes and group activities, practice of study skills in class, and mastery.

Academic And Event Calendars
Student progress reports and transcripts are provided for each of the four semesters that make up the academic year. Families are encouraged to use the Aspen Parent Portal to access student schedules and classes. This tool provides insight into what is happening in the classroom, helping families better support their child's areas of strength and development.
In the 2022-2023 school year, all students in grades 3-12 will be able to use their own technology devices in the classroom. For younger students in grades PK3-2, the school provides a 3:1 student to device ratio in the classroom to support learning. Families are required to sign a Student Technology Responsibility Agreement Acknowledgment form at the beginning of the school year. Families are their children's experts and partners in their success at school. Bonding with your child's teachers and school is critical to a successful school year. Ask teachers how and when you can ask them and work with them to support your child's learning. Parent-Teacher Conference dates are scheduled for Thursday, October 6, 2022 and Thursday, March 9, 2023. Additionally, most schools host open houses or back-to-school nights throughout the fall.

DCPS is proud to provide parents, caregivers, students and families with resources and tools to promote recovery and well-being. The DCPS School Mental Health Team (SMH) supports more than 250 on-campus psychologists and social workers who provide supportive and therapeutic services to students and families who need help for any reason, from accessing practical resources to dealing with life-changing events. Our aim is to ensure that students are physically and mentally safe and able to participate fully in their learning.

DCPS after-school programs engage students in academic and extracurricular enrichment and develop new hobbies and skills. DCPS faculty, paraprofessionals and school partner organizations offer students a variety of unique course options.
English Schools Foundation
In school year 22-23, after-school programs are offered in 55 schools through the After School Time Program (OSTP). Schools that do not participate in OSTP after-school programs may offer their own programs to students. Please contact your student's school for more information. Research shows that participation in extracurricular activities is related to academic success. Many faculty and staff offer suggestions for clubs and activities, which are a great way for students and staff to get to know each other.
